Hmm, there is much beard-stroking going on here. <strokes beard>

How would people act if they thought they were dead? Well, I remember thinking, "it's not worth opening my eyes because I am dead. It's not worth moving my limbs because I am dead. It's not worth breathing because... hang on, I AM breathing! And I can move! And if I open my eyes I can see! Maybe I am not dead after all." (Yes, sometimes I am slow on the uptake.) I can't imagine that this would be particularly entertaining to watch. Maybe I just don't have much imagination.

Talking of which, where did this thought come from, Spasm? And don't start this lot on lucid dreaming, that's a whole other thread!

Yep, debbie, but what if it was possible to do it without the person being under hypnosis? Say, if Derren could do it by mere suggestion, and phrasing? Would the person react in the same way? Their conscious mind would still be active...

I supose it would be very like the time he convinced that art student that the doll and Derren were invisible. He would have to prove to the person that they were dead which means that other people would nolonger be aware of the person. But how does he do that when the person knows that Derren is alive and is aware of them.I don't think it's possible to do something like that through suggestion alone.

Ah, a challenge, debbie20!! Very Happy

*strokes beard*

Agreed, the death one might not make good viewing; I just wonder if it would be possible.

I think the convincing-someone-he-has-their-soul thing would be more interesting to watch, or the convincing-someone-he-is-the-devil one. Or both at once. What the hell!

I think he's managed that one already Spasm! I have a colleague at work whose boyfriend wouldn't go and see the tour last year because he's scared of tippy-toes. Laughing

Ooh sorry, Pru, I forgot to answer your question! The thought just popped into my head today, after I'd eaten way too much cheese.

Now, if you could make someone believe their pulse has stopped, and then expand on that...

Oh, and I think for added effect, Derren should persuade them that he is the Devil.

Twisted Evil

spasm, i bought Luke Jermay's DVD not long ago and he does that effect, convinces someone their pulse has stopped and also that his own pulse has stopped (someone correct me if i'm wrong, haven't watched it for a while but i think i am recalling correctly)

Oh I am already thoroughly convinced he is the devil.
It would be really funny if he managed to convince a few people he had their souls in jars and then began to juggle the jars and say,'do you want your soul, well you can't have it' and snatch it back.
Or he started to put things like lizards in the jars so people thought lizards had their souls and started behaving like lizards.
He could turn it into one big, hilarious comedy.

Ah, now that sounds like fun! Very Happy He could tell them that one of the souls is that off a mass-murdering Satanic cult leader, and then threaten to give it to one of them... Twisted Evil

Luke Jermay! Yes, that was it!

I know. It took me a while to stop laughing. Then they said 'seriously, he's too scared to go' and I started laughing all over again. I could have suggested he wear a tin foil hat to protect himself... but I didn't. I'm cruel and heartless sometimes.

Aw, don't be so hard on the guy. My friend is scared to go to shows like that in case he gets picked to go on stage. He gets nervous with lots of people looking at him. Maybe this guy is thinking the same thing and is just shy.

Phoenixz - rather you than me!

No need to worry Phoenixz, 10am to 3pm sounds like plenty of time to snooze. Wink

And Pru - I think that the fear of getting picked to go up on stage was part of it which would be the case whoever they went to see... but he finds DVB scary. And that was before the zombie thing.

Well, if he's scared of the man himself, it's okay to laugh.

In the style of that kid off The Simpsons - "Ha ha!"

Sorry Spasm!

The reference seemed appropriate given that he convinced the guy that everyone around him was dead - sort of.

I got a text message during the show when that was on from a friend of mine, it said 'Do not let anything like that happen to me. Ever.'

What is it that you are scared of Debbie? If you don't mind me asking. And if Spasm doesn't mind her thread being hijacked.
