Surely it depends on what kind of fear we’re talking about ......if it’s rational fear then its an essential part of our existence I would have thought.....(unless of course you happen to be the lovely Mr. Goodwin)
It’s only irrational fear that can sometimes paralyse us and stop us from getting the most out of life....unfortunately, they are also the hardest to conquer. _________________ Every time I close the door on reality, it comes in through the windows. |

| Yeah, I see what you're saying. What I meant was that seeing the devil or your life flash before your eyes kind of takes the edge off ordinary scary situations and puts things in perspective. |

Dear Spasm,
I have been waiting and waiting down here in Algate Station for quite a while now with only rats for company....we did arrange to meet to discuss some ghostly shenannigans....but am still waiting.......
started to write a little story while I waited...was tricky with only bits of old charcoal to write with and the fading emergency lights to see by, but had to keep myself occupied somehow......btw, it's getting cold here now...
SPESHUL TED’S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE!
Deep in deepest darkest Baker Street (at night) near the tube station stood Speshul Ted, he was waiting for Spazzle, London’s most notorious Jewel thief and sometime Magician. They were planning a very special gathering indeed. The Order of The PhoenixZee were about to have their annual meet and greet and a plan needed to be hatched. "I feel the need to hatch a cunning plan", thought Ted to himself!as he looked around at all the hustle of people hustling towards the underground.
"Ted!", a familiar voice called from behind, and Ted turned to witness a Swoosh of purple velvet and instantly recognised the shiny pointy hat of his comrade. "Spazzles!, you look splendid in your new cape", he gushed, trying hard not to make eye-contact with the tinfoil hat. "Thought I’d make the effort", giggled Spazzles, as the shininess of her hat began to reflect passing headlights and temporarily blinding unsuspecting pedestrians…. |

Wouldn't it?
I would like to see him try something really dark, and the nightmare-scenario/waking dream effect would be absolutely wonderful.
I'm going to have a think about this. |

Ooh, I had an idea last night. What if DB staged an accident during a trick? Say he shot someone in front of two other people who were taking part in it? There could be a mad rush by the company medic, who pronounces the victim 'dead', then a bit of a panic by the crew. Following this, DB could turn to the two other folk with an evil grin, and frame them... perhaps stick them to the floor until they hear a certain noise, something innocuous like a mobile phone ringing? Plus he could put the gun in their hand and suggest to them that they can't put it down. Of course, then the 'Police' arrive. Oh, the panic! Mwahahahaha! _________________

I've changed the title of this thread to try and encourage other folks to pop in with ideas!
So you don't have to go trawling through the whole lot, we've so far got these lovely suggestions:
1. DB convinces a person that he has their soul in a jar. Then he either smashes it, or places it somewhere and gets the person to describe to him where it is, a bit like remote-viewing. Or he shoves a vacuum cleaner nozzle in it and watches what happens.
2. DB convinces a person that they have killed someone else, and gets them to describe the person they've offed, the method they used and the alibi they're going to give. Or persuades a person to believe they are actually killing someone else, kind of like Heist but with a very evil twist.
3. A person is put to bed and falls asleep. DB then wakes them up and takes them through a dream/nightmare scenario before putting them back to bed. The person wakes in the morning thinking it was all a proper dream, but then begins to encounter elements and people from their dream during their next day...
4. DB convinces someone that he is a demon, but they are the only ones to see him in his true light, perhaps giving them flashes of his 'evil persona' with certain triggers.
5. DB engineers a conversation between two people, and then convinces one that the other has been dead for years. Then he arranges for them to meet again.
6. DB creates a ghostly apparition in an underground station, either for all the station users at intermittent intervals, or for one particular person who is lured to Aldwych station and its disused platform. There he scares the pants off them with some freaky ghostly activity (possibly a 'Pepper's Ghost' opportunity?)
7. DB stages an accident during a trick, as I've just written above...
So, does anyone have any other intriguing suggestions? Please, feel free to join in!

We love deja vu. I think it was suggested that a weirdly-dressed person from the dream appear the next day as a street performer... _________________

Oh yes, isn't deja vu an interesting concept.
I was actually thinking about other concepts not so long ago and where you can take them. Interesting... _________________
