Spaz that is really creepy. I keep thinking it is flashing a bit too much in the website when you enter. Maybe one day we will log onto forum and see that last night was like an orgie on the forum. Or maybe not.
Anyway I got my badge today in the mail Very Happy Thank you.
I will take a pic of me with badge and stolen candy later Confused Twisted Evil

Personally I'm not comfortable with viewing the flash wedsite because I can't make out what the subliminal messages are. I'm convinced that words flash up on the screen and I find that both annoying and uncomfortable.

Come to think of it, I did go through a phase of thieving from newsagents recently... Confused

So maybe he can manipulate the forum instead? Start a few well-placed threads; bit of subliminal suggestion in there, bit of phpbb recoding...the possibilities are endless. And the fact that we're all here already makes us suggestible enough to make it work! *snigger*

Heh, but what would be the objective of forum manipulation? To get everyone to meet up at a certain time and place without them knowing why? To get them all to comment on a non-existant show?

Hmmm...

Maybe he's trying to influence us all to go see him live again, for the second year in a row!? He knows it wouldn't take much to persuade us so we're easy targets. He just wants our money!

...Or maybe I'm just paranoid

In reply to the original post, I am of the mind that it would be possible if Derren were to convince the 'participant' that he, and everyone around them were dead too and they were in heaven (unless they filmed it in Manchester, then it would obviously be hell).

Soz if someone else has posted this; could only be bothered to read first page of replies as my time on the forum is being eaten up by work. arse.

Here's an idea; would Derren be able to influence people to perform certain actions through the mainpulation of a website, do you think?

*deliberately avoids the word 'forum'*

Wink

Sure he could. There was a documentary about Agatha Christie over Xmas trying to find the secret to her success, they decided it was subliminal messages in her writing, getting the reader to 'forget' and remember' as she needed them to.

If Miss Marple did it, Derren would be brilliant at it!

But what shall we make him want to do with us...whoops..ahem..whoever Wink *Amethyst ponders lustfully over delicious ideas, blushes and decides to let others decide Evil or Very Mad Drool

Yep, it's all very well hypnotising one chap with a video game, but would he be able to influence loads on a website? On his website, maybe? He could raise a brainwashed fan army to take over the world! Mwahahaha! *ahem* or get them all to do some kind of simple movement or something. Of course, you'd need to get them to film themselves - that would be the difficult bit!

well i am sitting here with one arm up in the air......
also, every time i hear "can you feel it" i want to hurt people.......

anyone else?

Killing time waiting for the bus yesterday, I mooched around a shop with loads of 'nickable' items on display and found 'Can You Feel It' booming in my brain! I walked out and felt like SCREAMING!
Won't affect the viewers at home my backside!

I think maybe DB should run a programme at the same time as Paul McKenna's 'I Can Make You Thin'.

Maybe call it Derren Brown's 'I Can Make Paul McKenna Nick A Twix'.

I am finding this thread extremely interesting because I know someone who has:

1)Believed themselves dead

2) Believed they have killed others

3) Believe someone ( not Derren) of being the devil.

These things ( amongst others) were brought about by drugs and were as real to the person as if they had indeed been hypnotised ( or suggested or whatever). So what happened?

1)Started screaming, turned white, then green, passed out. Following three months of severe nervous breakdown.

2)Shaking and crying.

3)Terrified and trying to wonder why only they 'knew' the truth.

Drug induced psychosis is tantamount to schizophrenia which is kind of what Derren induces in people - it's basically the same thing. I'm not slagging off Derren - I'm a huge fan-it's just that that is exactly what he does.

Apologies if I am stating the obvious...

Joking aside, there is nothing entertaining about seeing someone you love have a drug induced breakdown. It's heartbreaking when they can't talk or eat and lose so much weight they are bearly recognisable.

I personally think that DB is intelligent enough to realise that that is what would happen if he induced delusions such as these and that is why he hasn't done it. The man's a fucking genius and understands human nature to the nth degree.

On a happier note, the person is now so desensitised to fear that they are scared of nothing - a rather nice place to be I imagine.

Wow! That must indeed be a nice place to be in. I read about a rock star once who conquered his fear of death by hurting himself and pushing back his pain barriers. Not that that relates in any way, but...

I think some fear is a good thing....I also know of people who are sometimes seemingly scared of nothing. A couple have done serious damage to themselves and/or others.....really not particularly positive, in my eyes anyway!

Fear can also help you to push yourself further/achieve different things....that's what I believe, anyway.
