I bet they'll love it as much as we do. So much so that anyone meeting DB in the future will hear him humming it as he signs autographs. |

I made Dave and Coops Laugh on stage last night when they were introduced.
everyone was clapping except me.... I just shouted
"NOBACHERIEEEEEEEEE!!"
Even got a chuckle out of Dez. _________________

I nearly did that, but I figured as I was so far back they were nowt but slightly blurry humanoid figures, it would have just got me funnier looks than when I was giggling constantly throughout the 2nd half!
And I'm also trying to get my name badge for this politics thing to say
"Alison
Nobacherie"
Cos the press are going to be there, and I WILL get this word accepted into everyday use if it kills me...
However A PROPER DEFINITION WOULD BE MOST USEFUL IN THE QUEST TO DO SO DAVE! _________________

One thing occurred to me last night.
Bearing in mind that Derren wrote gibberish on that poster, isn't it possible he's concocted a number of different, but fake, explanations for nobacherie?
So, because he asks everyone he's told not to divulge it, none of them ever find out they've been told something different and, therefore, wrong. _________________ The best thing about being a cynic is that you are nearly always right. The worst thing is that you are nearly always right. |

Ah, now I like that answer!
So the ones who have been told the fake answers are being played by Mr. B, while he has a good laugh at them?
PS- Thanks, Flossy. I'll remember that. _________________

And, what's more, because each answer is slightly different (they wouldn't be radically different, that would be a giveaway), if someone breaks their promise, Derren would immediately know who it was.
It's the classic way of working out who's leaking information.
Goodness, that man is sneaky, isn't he?

It's true, P-T. We already know that he reads this thread, or at least keeps up to date with it, and we know that he likes to play games.
I bet none of the people who have been told have been able to match their answers up to all of Big Dave's and Coops's clues...

Now, that's a good point. That would be the real test, wouldn't it? _________________ The best thing about being a cynic is that you are nearly always right. The worst thing is that you are nearly always right. |

I see none of 'those who think they are in the know' have posted a response saying that they can match their explanation to all of SBD's clues...

We've all been had, I have found a script segement for a forthcoming episode of Trick of the Mind:
Incredibly Genuine Script Segment for Forthcoming Trick of the Mind Ep:

'I'm Derren Brown, famous Mentalist and freaky fu*ker. Welcome to Trick of the Mind where in this series I attempted to play mind games with a bunch of forumites who all conviniently happen to frequent my boards. In a mind melting trick that will eventually cause some of them to go postal, develop facial tics at the mere mention of one word. That word is Nobacherie, I have no idea what that means it was just handed to me by my lovely assistant Coops who is insisting its something to do with chimpanzees or summat. Anyway let's all laugh at the mad people now.
ROLL V.T. 5 MINS montage of clips from forum thread Messiah the Credits v/o by Derren (laughing manically) |
There we have it, we're all involed in the Nobacherie Conspiracy (sounds like a book by the same bloke who did the Da Vinci Code.) _________________ I reject your reality and substitute it with my own. |

This isn't an answer as such, but just something I thought pulled together quite nicely in my researching
taking the 'fish and chips in welsh train station that I can't be bothered to type' clue, i thought (although I think I may have actually stolen it from someone else's mad scribblings) of a welsh take away.
Since the welsh word 'bach' was in the word, i decided to google for 'nobacherie' , taking away the 'bach'
i found this site, which, if my french doesn't let me down, claims that in some old romanic dialect, 'noerie' means an abundance of water. (look right at the bottom, point 5, if you an actually be arsed to clicky.)
http://perso.wanadoo.fr/ludovic.noirie/patronymes/toponymes/la_noirie.html
Having discussed coops' missions in search of evian earlier in this thread, it just made me smile. Shame it doesn't fit any of the other clues tho, and it's certainly not simple!! Although it is in french, which could be a start... _________________ People always ask me, "Where were you when Kennedy was shot?" Well, I don't have an alibi... |

Im not sure if any one has suggested this already, but if we dont know the answer by the date of the forum meeting, you could all get together as one stand up in the middle of the show (or lynch him after) and demand to know the answer, there could even be t-shirts??
Ok that may be taking it a bit far, but that number of people all demanding an answer has to incite a response of some kind, could be funny what that response turns out to be though!!?!?

"Ah, yes, son. I remember the Nobacherie Riots. There was this fellow. Beardy, what was his name...? Brown, Dan Brown, that's it. Anyway, he'd been annoying his followers, with this strange magic word, 'nobacherie'. One day, his followers rise up and, just after he'd completed one of his ceremonies, they came together (in a manner of speaking), and demanded satisfaction.
All except Absinthegal, who demanded it twice.
Well, things got out of hand. The temple was surrounded by police and a lot of people died in the chaos. Quite a few died in the theatre. A stand-up comedian died on stage.
They never did find out what it meant, but as they pulled Dan Brown's body from the pile of corpses, some say that it had a strange, twisted grin, as though he'd taken some deadly secret to the grave with him.
But others thought it might just have been wind."
[Yes, the t-shirts have been suggested and it may yet come to that.] _________________ The best thing about being a cynic is that you are nearly always right. The worst thing is that you are nearly always right. |
